A little town with a lot of history!
Lining the main street of Deadwood. We have a number of historical shooting reenactments.
Deadwood in the year 1890
Wyatt Earp was an American Old West gambler, as well as a deputy sheriff and deputy marshal later.
Wild Bill Hickok
Wild Bill was a folk hero of the Old West. He had also dated Calamity Jane. He was shot and killed in Deadwood where his grave is also found, on a nearby mountain outside of town.
Born Martha Jane Canary, Calamity Jane was a frontiers woman known for her relationship with Wild Bill Hickok and their days in deadwood. This is where her legend as a hard drinking woman began!
Where do the stars hang out in Deadwood? Along the walls of the Midnight Star Gaming Emporium, visitors can see original costumes, movie memorabilia, and personal keepsakes from Kevin Costner's film career on display at the Midnight Star and upstairs at Diamond Lil's Bar & Grill.
The displays feature rare and authentic movie memorbilia, such as the baseball jacket Kevin Costner wore in Bull Durham and the Native American outfits worn in Dances With Wolves. We even have a rare photograph of Kevin Costner as he appeared in The Big Chill with the other cast members. Kevin's scenes were eventually cut from the movie, so this photo is rare.
Currently, there are costume displays and hundreds of photographs throughout the Midnight Star and Diamond Lil's. Plans originally called for twenty-two costume and memorbilia displays with only seven or eight seen at one time. As of now, there are approximately twenty on display with new displays added periodically. Every time you visit the Midnight Star, you might see something new!
